Boone Lake of East Tennessee

Boone Lake Reservoir is located on the South Fork Holston River in northeast Tennessee. The reservoir is named for frontiersman Daniel Boone, who played a major role in the history of the area.

Boone Lake is managed for a number of purposes, including power production, flood damage reduction, water supply, water quality, and aquatic ecology.

The reservoir features a swimming area and beach above the dam and a boat ramp with a courtesy pier for safe, convenient boat launching and retrieval. Water sports, fishing and night life are popular pastimes on Boone Lake.

Note: Boone Lake is still 30 feet below normal fill levels due to TVA’s work repairing the dam. Construction began in 2015 and was estimated to take 5-7 years to complete. Despite lower water levels, Boone Lake still has close to 30 miles of boatable water and plenty of lake to enjoy.
